Government-Enterprise Collaboration for Development | Leaders of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress Investigate Meishan Lina
On June 16, Wang Yanfei, Deputy Director and Party Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, led a research team to visit Meishan Lina to inspect technological innovation, safety production, sales operations, and other aspects, guiding the enterprise to fully strive for economic development and construction to ensure the achievement of the "double half" goal.
Meishan Lina is a key deployment of Zhongna Energy in the western region and the world's first mass production base for sodium iron sulfate cathode material with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons. Since its commissioning, production capacity has steadily increased, now forming a stable capacity of 10,000 tons of sodium iron sulfate cathode material and 2 GWh of sodium-ion battery packs annually, with a production rate exceeding 90%. It is one of the 500 key industrial and technological transformation projects scheduled by the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information System in 2026 and has been awarded the title of "Advanced Collective for Grasping High-Quality Projects and Increasing Effective Investment" in Meishan.
Accompanied by Xia Gang, Chairman of Zhongna Energy, the research team visited the base's exhibition hall, intelligent production workshop, and finished product storage area, systematically inspecting the strategic value, cutting-edge technological breakthroughs, and diversified application scenarios of the sodium iron sulfate technical route.
In the exhibition hall, Xia Gang systematically introduced the strategic logic of the sodium iron sulfate technical system to the research team. The technical route chosen by Zhongna Energy combines multiple advantages, including resource self-sufficiency, full lifecycle environmental friendliness, and high intrinsic safety, effectively reducing dependence on lithium resources. This has long-term significance for ensuring national energy security, promoting green energy transformation, and achieving the "dual carbon" goals.
Relying on this technical route, Zhongna Energy has formed a full industry chain layout covering materials, cells, and battery systems, achieving positive results in the coordinated development of production, supply, and sales between the western manufacturing base and the eastern market. Currently, the company's products have been delivered in batches to multiple niche markets, including light-duty power, residential energy storage, and commercial and industrial energy storage, with a preliminary commercial closed loop formed.
In terms of technical research and development, Xia Gang focused on reporting the company's latest progress in the anode-free technical route. He stated that sodium batteries are most suitable for the anode-free technical route, and the company is fully advancing related research and development, expecting key technological breakthroughs by the end of the year. This innovative direction is expected to further reduce battery costs and increase energy density, opening new space for the large-scale commercial application of sodium batteries.
Deputy Director Wang Yanfei fully affirmed the technological innovation and industrialization achievements of Meishan Lina in the sodium-ion battery field. He pointed out that this year marks the beginning of the "15th Five-Year Plan," and the provincial party committee has made major deployments to fight the opening battle. Enterprises should strengthen their development confidence, continuously enhance technological innovation, accelerate capacity release, and, while ensuring safety production, strive to achieve the second-quarter production and operation goals, contributing to the realization of the "double half" target.
As the western regional headquarters and core production base of Zhongna Energy, Meishan Lina is continuously promoting the large-scale commercial application of sodium-ion battery technology in the western region. After full production, the project is expected to achieve an annual output value of over 4 billion yuan.
This on-site guidance by the provincial people's congress research team further strengthened Zhongna Energy's confidence and determination to root in Sichuan and deeply cultivate the sodium battery industry. Zhongna Energy and Meishan Lina will take this opportunity to continue increasing R&D investment, accelerate capacity ramp-up, and respond to expectations with solid industrialization results, running their own acceleration on the long and promising track of the sodium battery industry.
