Active-material particle size, surface chemistry, and moisture state; conductive-additive agglomeration; binder molecular weight and dissolution; and solvent or water purity all change wetting and dispersion. Residual alkalinity in layered oxides, water in Prussian blue analogues, and hard-carbon surface area can make the same base formulation show different pH, viscosity, and stability. Before addition, record lot, storage, sieving or baking, weighing error, and environmental exposure. Without this history, later rheology changes cannot be separated into equipment and material causes.

Section 02
Conductive carbon forms strong agglomerates. Adding binder too early or at high local concentration can coat particles and hinder later dispersion, while rapid active-material addition creates dry pockets and dead zones. Processes may use predispersions, staged feeding, dry blending, or master solutions; the key is not a universal order but a defined purpose and observable state for every step. At scale, feed location, liquid level, and circulation path change, so a laboratory beaker sequence cannot be copied unchanged into tonne-scale equipment.

Section 03
Slurry experiences different shear during storage, pumping, filtration, the coating head, and rest. Shear thinning, thixotropic recovery, yield behavior, and time dependence matter more than viscosity at one spindle speed. Insufficient shear may leave conductive-carbon agglomerates, while excessive energy can damage particles, shear binder, or raise temperature. Record torque, power, temperature, and time as a process trajectory, and use particle size, fineness, rheology, and microscopy to judge stable dispersion rather than assume longer mixing is always better.

Section 04
High-speed mixing entrains air, while powder pores can release gas. Bubbles reaching the coating head create pinholes, interruptions, or local loading defects. Vacuum deaeration must balance solvent evaporation and temperature; filtration should neither remove intended particles nor pass harmful agglomerates. During hold, thixotropic recovery, binder hydration, settling, or gelation can change the slurry, so tank agitation, maximum wait time, temperature, and reuse conditions require control. Sampling should cover different tank positions and times.

Section 05
Cross-web streaks, edge variation, drying cracks, peel strength, and electrode resistance can reveal dispersion and rheology issues in the same slurry; formation resistance, capacity spread, and local failures provide downstream feedback. At scale, connect material lot, mixer, process trajectory, slurry sample, electrode roll, and cells, then use trends to detect slow drift. Process settings belong to validated company data and should not be published as universal recipes. Public knowledge should explain how variables propagate and what to investigate first.
