Section 02
Aluminum-foil thickness, tension, steering, roll condition, and static charge affect substrate flatness and position. Edge recession, heavy edges, tails, or bare foil persist into calendering and slitting. Double-sided coating must manage front-back alignment and deformation after the first side dries. Higher web speed shortens residence time in each oven zone and magnifies splice and tension disturbances. Section 03
As solvent evaporates from the wet-film surface, liquid moves through the thickness and particles, conductive carbon, and binder may redistribute by capillary flow. Excessive early drying can create a skin and pull binder upward; insufficient later capacity leaves solvent or water. High-loading electrodes are more prone to through-thickness gradients. Oven zones, airflow, dew point, and exhaust must match web speed, solids content, and film thickness. Completion is not only a residual-solvent result; adhesion at both interfaces, pores, and resistance distribution also matter.

Section 04
Pinholes may come from bubbles, contamination, or poor wetting; streaks may come from the die, pumping, agglomerates, or scratches; cracks may involve solids, binding, drying, and substrate stress. Similar appearances can have different causes, and one root cause can create several defect types. Diagnosis should retain position, direction, periodicity, time, and lot, then combine slurry samples, equipment inspection, cross-sections, and peel tests. Inline vision locates rapidly; laboratory analysis confirms the physical origin.

Section 05
Residual alkalinity and air sensitivity of layered oxides, water and low density of Prussian blue analogues, and hard-carbon surface area and aqueous binders change slurry stability, drying load, and compaction targets. Sodium-ion can use aluminum collectors on both electrodes, offering a material advantage, but corrosion, adhesion, and joining still require validation. Shared equipment helps industrial adoption but does not mean speed, temperature, loading, and cleaning can be copied. Product conrevisions should scale through pilot electrodes and full cells, tracking how residues affect formation gas and storage.
