Xibei Power Sodium-Ion Battery Achieves Another Breakthrough: High-Power Cells Supplied in Bulk to Megawatt Ultra-Fast Charging Stations, Completing Full-Scenario Industrial Layout
Recently, Xibei Power's self-developed high-power sodium-ion cells have achieved batch shipment and have been officially deployed in a megawatt-level ultra-fast charging station project. This marks a key milestone for the company's sodium-ion batteries in high-power fast-charging commercial scenarios, opening up a new technical pathway for sodium-based energy storage and replenishment in ultra-fast charging infrastructure.
The high-power sodium-ion cells delivered this time are specially developed for high-power ultra-fast charging scenarios. The material system has been specifically optimized, selecting cathode materials with the optimal GITT kinetic coefficient, paired with a low-solvation-energy electrolyte and customized fast-charging hard carbon anode. These four core performance features directly address the pain points of megawatt ultra-fast charging: 1. Ultra-high rate charge/discharge capability, perfectly compatible with the liquid-cooled MAX ultra-fast charging station's 6MW total output and 1.5MW single-gun ultra-high charging power, enabling rapid energy replenishment; 2. Excellent low-temperature performance, with energy retention exceeding 90% at -20°C, eliminating the need for additional preheating equipment before charging and ensuring stable operation in cold northern regions; 3. Outstanding intrinsic safety, with no sodium or oxygen evolution under overcharge or overdischarge conditions, eliminating thermal runaway risks and significantly enhancing safety margins in high-power continuous charging scenarios; 4. Ultra-long cycle life, with cycle counts reaching 10,000 cycles, perfectly matching the high-frequency daily charge/discharge usage of ultra-fast charging stations. The equipment lifespan can reach 15 years, greatly reducing long-term maintenance and replacement costs for the station.
The implementation of this megawatt ultra-fast charging project is a crucial step in Xibei Power's ongoing efforts to advance the full-scenario commercialization of sodium-ion batteries. Prior to this, the company's products have been deployed across heavy trucks, light trucks, buses, passenger vehicles, mining trucks, and various construction machinery sectors. This entry into the high-power public ultra-fast charging sector completes the product landscape for new energy public replenishment. Compared to traditional lithium battery solutions, sodium-ion batteries offer abundant raw material reserves, controllable costs, and significant advantages in low-temperature performance and safety.
