Showcasing Industrial Strength: Pangu New Energy to Present Multiple Sodium-Ion Battery Products at CIBF 2026
According to available data, Pangu New Energy's research on sodium-ion batteries began in 2015, and the company was officially established in 2022. It is a leading domestic provider of sodium-ion battery solutions, dedicated to deeply integrating cell technology with application scenarios to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions and business innovation value for the industry. As one of the first batch of enterprises in China to pass the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's sodium-ion battery evaluation, the company operates the nation's first flexible mass production line for sodium-ion batteries. Leveraging full-stack proprietary technology, it has built product advantages in high safety, wide temperature range, high rate capability, and low cost, while achieving coordinated development across the entire industrial chain, laying a solid foundation for large-scale delivery.
Relying on its core technological strengths, Pangu New Energy has deployed a multi-base coordinated development strategy, achieving large-scale delivery through its Wuxi cell production base and Yangzhou PACK integration base. The company's products have been effectively applied in scenarios such as low-speed electric vehicles, UPS, automotive start-stop systems, and energy storage, and have been exported overseas.
Specifically, Pangu New Energy's Wuxi cell production base covers an area of 10,000 m², with a total designed production capacity of 1.5 GWh. The nation's first flexible sodium-ion battery mass production line was commissioned here in May 2024, focusing on the development and application of cylindrical and pouch cells. The current production capacity is 0.5 GWh, which can be gradually increased to the planned upper limit of 1.5 GWh.
The Yangzhou base is positioned as a battery pack integration and manufacturing facility, covering 11,000 m² with a total designed production capacity of 5 GWh. It has currently deployed and activated 2 mass production lines and 1 experimental line. The base is equipped with high-precision automated production lines and advanced testing equipment, enabling a closed-loop supply chain for the company, allowing products to directly meet application needs and precisely match market and customer scenario-specific requirements.
The Shenzhen base is a pouch cell production facility, covering 4,500 m² (with plans for expansion). Leveraging the abundant resources of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it has established an innovation platform integrating R&D, market operations, and multi-dimensional services. The base is equipped with a full set of facilities, including a coin cell laboratory, electrolyte laboratory, cell testing room, module testing room, and cell trial production line, forming a complete cell R&D system that fully meets experimental and pilot-scale needs, providing strong support for technological innovation.
Currently, production capacity at Pangu New Energy's various bases is progressing steadily and is in a phased ramp-up period: the Wuxi cell base maintains a stable daily output of 30,000 units, while the Yangzhou PACK base operates smoothly with a monthly output of 8,000 module sets. Products have been successfully exported to multiple countries in Europe and America. Additionally, the company can rapidly increase existing production capacity by 2-3 times based on order demand to ensure delivery capability.
In terms of technology R&D, Pangu New Energy has achieved large-scale mass production on both the polyanionic and layered oxide technology routes, with core products demonstrating outstanding performance: high-rate sodium-ion cells (3Ah-10Ah) support instantaneous discharge up to 100C, with a capacity retention rate exceeding 80% at -40°C. In early 2026, the company will launch a 150Ah low-temperature start-stop battery, capable of instant start at -30°C with a peak current of 2000A. The company has taken the lead in entering the AI data center energy storage scenario, expanding into the BBU and short-term backup power market.
In terms of customer collaboration, Pangu New Energy has established deep partnerships with several industry leaders, including top OEMs, a leading unmanned vehicle company, municipal groups, and some Fortune 500 power enterprises. Its products have achieved large-scale deployment in scenarios such as light-duty power, battery swap operations, and energy storage.
