On October 30, Weiyuan County in Neijiang, Sichuan Province, signed two new energy materials projects. The sodium hexafluorophosphate and electrolyte project invested by Jiangxi Jinhui Lithium Battery Materials will build production lines for 30,000 tonnes of sodium hexafluorophosphate and 100,000 tonnes of sodium-ion battery electrolyte per year, while the sodium battery cathode project invested by Yonghan Materials Technology (Jiaxing) will build a high-performance battery-grade sodium iron pyrophosphate (NFPP) production line. Feng Fagui, Party Secretary of Neijiang, attended and witnessed the signing.
The cathode project marks Yonghan Materials Technology's second cooperation with Weiyuan County in three months, following its 300,000-tonne spent lithium battery recycling project. Weiyuan County serves as the upstream raw-material support zone in Neijiang's citywide sodium battery "1+2" layout. Neijiang said it would provide support in factor supply, approval services and policy fulfilment to move the projects toward construction and production.
Neijiang has made new energy and new materials a leading local manufacturing sector, cultivating sodium-ion batteries as an expanding industry cluster. According to the municipal government, more than 20 sodium and lithium battery chain companies, including Haisida and Baisige, have gathered in the city, forming an industrial system covering basic raw materials, core materials, cell manufacturing, system integration, application scenarios and battery recycling. The two signings add sodium hexafluorophosphate, electrolyte and sodium-battery cathode capacity to Neijiang's sodium battery industry chain.
