On October 27, Australian renewable energy company H2G Limited (ASX: H2G) announced that the first shipment of its PowerSafe sodium-ion batteries has been sold, marking the range's move from product development into commercial sales. PowerSafe batteries are now present in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, and the company says it will keep providing updates as further shipments arrive and pipeline sales convert.
According to the announcement, a second shipment of about 550 kWh of PowerSafe sodium-ion batteries is due within weeks to support existing customer demand. The matching PowerSafe hybrid inverters have been approved by the Clean Energy Council (CEC) and are available for immediate supply. Matched to the sodium-ion chemistry, the inverters serve residential solar and grid-connected applications, allowing H2G to offer a combined battery-and-inverter package. The PowerSafe range targets residential, commercial, industrial and utility storage applications.
H2G unveiled the PowerSafe sodium-ion battery line in October 2025. The company says the product uses non-flammable chemistry with no thermal runaway risk, and highlights long cycle life, temperature resilience, a low carbon footprint and full recyclability — company statements that have not been independently verified. On the financial side, the equity raise completed in February 2026 and the non-dilutive R&D refund received in July together extend the company's cash runway into 2027. The size and customers of the first shipment were not disclosed.
