The Zaozhuang ecology bureau accepted the EIA filing for Phase One of the Tengzhou Xigang 200MW/400MWh storage station on September 23. The comment period runs through September 30. Zhongneng Gujing (Tengzhou) New Energy is the developer. Phase One is planned in Xigang Town with RMB 240 million in investment, including RMB 1.55 million for environmental protection.
Phase One calls for 100MW/200MWh of storage: eighteen 5MW/10MWh LFP systems and two 5MW/10MWh sodium-ion units. The sodium-ion portion totals 10MW/20MWh, about 10% of Phase One capacity, with four battery containers.
The filing also lists 36 LFP battery containers, 20 PCS step-up units and a planned 220kV main transformer. The associated 220kV substation is why the project entered the radiation-category EIA process.
The EIA has been accepted for public review but has not been approved. Construction and operation have not begun, and the final sodium-cell supplier has not been disclosed.
