On September 16, HiTHIUM held its 'Powered Day in, Day out' online launch event and officially unveiled ∞Power N4.0MWh, its next-generation sodium-ion integrated energy storage solution. Per HiTHIUM's official press release distributed via PR Newswire and reports by CNR and China Economic Net, the system carries HiTHIUM's self-developed ∞Cell N785Ah large-capacity sodium-ion battery, has a 30-year designed service life, and is planned for full-chain mass production and delivery in 2027. Dr. Wang, Director of HiTHIUM's Battery Research Institute, said at the event that '30 years means 10,950 days of validation', framing electrochemical storage against infrastructure-grade service-life standards.
Per the official specifications: the N785Ah cell offers a 20,000-cycle life and supports 2-8 hour mainstream storage durations, with bottom-up optimization across cathode, anode and electrolyte - high-phase-purity NFPP (sodium pyrophosphate polyanionic) cathode material developed with partners, self-developed hard-carbon anode with engineered pore structure and surface-defect repair, and a customized electrolyte formula for better interfacial film formation. The cell uses an ultra-thick coating electrode design and stacking processes, and is compatible with HiTHIUM's existing 1,000Ah lithium-ion production lines, providing a manufacturing base for scale-up.
At system level, ∞Power N4.0MWh uses a native sodium-ion architecture with stacked-cell design, dedicated BMS with SOC estimation accuracy of ≤2.5%, 800-1500V PCS compatibility, over 20% higher PCS rated-power utilization than the previous sodium generation, 30% smaller station footprint, over 88% 24-hour comprehensive efficiency, hybrid air-liquid cooling with AI thermal management, and 30%/50% reductions in operating/standby auxiliary power. The overseas release also disclosed the ∞Edge Pioneer extreme-environment testing program (progress to be disclosed over three years) and a long-term LCOS target of RMB 0.1/kWh. Per China Economic Net, HiTHIUM began sodium route validation in 2022, launched its first-generation sodium product in late 2024, achieved mass production in 2025, and reached 100MWh-scale production and delivery in 2026.
But 30-year life remains a design value, and industry data on long-duration sodium degradation in real power stations is still limited.
