On September 11, the official website of the Bazhong Economic Development Zone management committee (Sichuan) published a feature confirming that the zone's key advanced-materials project - Namey Energy's 1.5 GWh sodium-ion battery project - has entered the final commissioning sprint and will formally begin production in mid-September. Located in the zone's Wanma Industrial Park, the project represents a total investment of about RMB 500 million and revitalizes 30,000 square meters of standard factory premises. It has built a closed-loop production system covering precision electrode preparation, fully automated cell assembly, intelligent electrolyte filling and formation, and full-dimension quality inspection, and has reached trial-production readiness.
On products and economics, per the official disclosure, the project will produce both cylindrical and prismatic sodium-ion cells featuring wide-temperature adaptability, over 5,000 cycles of cycle life, high safety and 4C high-power fast charging, targeting grid storage frequency regulation, automotive start-stop power and new-energy supporting applications. At full production it will form 1.5 GWh/yr of sodium-ion cell capacity, with expected annual revenue above RMB 600 million and nearly 500 local jobs, while driving clustering of upstream and downstream activities such as new-materials processing, precision manufacturing and supporting supply chains.
1.5 GWh is a built-capacity figure; initial utilization, yield and actual shipment volumes are undisclosed; the RMB 600 million revenue figure is a full-ramp expectation, not current data; the delivery schedule of the RMB 890 million order book remains subject to company disclosure.
