On September 9, TrendForce Energy Storage (光储观察) reported that Xingshi Century recently completed a batch delivery of over 10 MWh of sodium-ion cells. The delivered products are 72174-type 170Ah sodium-ion cells for sodium storage projects, supplied respectively to a large domestic central SOE and a photovoltaic storage project in Xinjiang. According to the disclosure, the delivered cells are of the same design as the company's 'Arctic' series, developed for high-altitude and low-temperature storage environments; the series was first applied in June 2025 to a sodium-ion storage project in Shigatse, Tibet, and has undergone more than a year of operational monitoring. The specific project names and contract values were not disclosed.
On company background, Xingshi Century is among the first batch of companies to pass MIIT sodium-ion battery evaluation and has built a sodium product portfolio covering storage, start-stop power for vehicles, low-speed two-wheelers and telecom backup power. Per Qidian Sodium Battery, the Arctic-series 170Ah storage cell delivers over 10,000 cycles at 100% DOD and retains above 91% capacity at -40 degrees C, supports cycling at -20 degrees C, and has passed nail-penetration and thermal-runaway safety tests (company-disclosed figures). In July 2026 the company also delivered a batch of custom 24V 50Ah sodium start-stop power units for public buses. While modest in scale, this delivery's customer mix (central SOE + provincial PV storage) and high-altitude/low-temperature positioning continue the pattern of sodium-ion adoption starting in special-environment storage scenarios.
A delivery of just over 10 MWh is small-batch commercialization and does not by itself indicate scaled volume; cycle-life and low-temperature figures are company disclosures; project names, contract values and the exact delivery date were not disclosed.
