On September 9, bids were opened and winning candidates announced for the energy-storage system procurement of the Renqiu Zhihong 100MW/400MWh new-technology-route LFP + sodium-ion independent storage pilot project in Hebei Province. According to reports by Beijix (Polaris) Storage Network and Energy Storage & Power Market (both citing the Hebei public bidding platform), the procurement was split into two sections. Section 1, the LFP battery storage system (30MW/120MWh high-capacity LFP + 60MW/240MWh long-life LFP), attracted five bidders - HyperStrong, Kelu Electronics, Kuiyu Power, Envision Energy and CATL - with unit prices of RMB 0.5180-0.5499/Wh; Envision Energy ranked first candidate at RMB 186.48 million (RMB 0.5180/Wh) and Kuiyu Power second at RMB 189 million (0.5250/Wh).
Section 2, the sodium-ion storage system (10MW/40MWh), attracted five bidders - Lantian Solar Technology, Kehua Data, Shanghai Electric Group, Inovance and CATL - with unit prices of RMB 0.960-1.076/Wh; CATL ranked first candidate at RMB 41.4162 million (RMB 1.0354/Wh), Tianjin Lantian second at RMB 38.4 million (0.96/Wh), and Inovance third at RMB 42.4 million (1.06/Wh). Several bids were rejected for exceeding the price cap or failing technical requirements.
At the project level, located in Renqiu, Cangzhou, Hebei, the project builds 100MW/400MWh of hybrid independent storage using a 90% LFP + 10% sodium-ion capacity configuration, with total investment of RMB 409.5944 million, a new 220kV step-up substation with one 220/35kV main transformer, and one 220kV line connecting to the Jilu 220kV substation, covering about 50 mu. The opening of equipment procurement marks the project's move into core-equipment contracting. Notably, sodium-ion section bid prices (RMB 0.96-1.076/Wh) are roughly double those of the LFP section (RMB 0.518-0.55/Wh), quantifying the current cost gap between sodium-ion and mature LFP storage systems and providing a publicly comparable price benchmark.
