On September 4, according to Shuimu Wang (Yantai Daily Media Group, YMG), Shandong Dejin New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., based in Longkou, Shandong Province, achieved a key technology iteration as its independently developed second-generation sodium-ion battery successfully rolled off the line recently. Per company-disclosed figures, the product is the result of two years of dedicated development: estimated cycle life reaches 15,000 cycles, with a total service life of 15 to 20 years; capacity fade remains extremely low at minus 20 to minus 30 degrees Celsius, and discharge retention still reaches 85% to 90% at minus 40 degrees Celsius; it also supports high-rate fast charging and discharging, with overall production cost 20% to 30% lower than lithium batteries. The company said the product is undergoing comprehensive performance testing and is expected to officially enter the market in about a year, mainly targeting large long-duration energy storage projects.
As for the company's background, Dejin New Energy is a national-level "little giant" special-and-new enterprise and high-tech company whose main products were previously large-capacity lithium iron phosphate prismatic aluminum-shell cells and energy storage systems, serving domestic and overseas storage power stations and commercial & industrial storage, with exports exceeding 85% of output and order schedules extended to the end of November. Chairman Chi Tongsheng said the company's phase-I and phase-II production lines are fully ready for sodium-ion battery mass production and can fully match mature manufacturing processes. This second-generation rollout marks the company's move from lithium storage into the sodium-ion route; its first-generation sodium-ion battery developed in 2024 was still at the experimental stage with energy-density shortcomings, while the second generation has optimized production processes and formed a mass-production-ready system.
: key figures such as the 15,000-cycle life and cost reduction are company-disclosed estimates and have not been independently verified by third parties; the product is still in performance testing, and "entering the market in about a year" is a planned milestone - a rollout does not mean volume delivery, let alone commercial revenue; Dejin is a private unlisted company with no exchange disclosure channel for cross-verification.
