On August 31, the tender announcement for the Yangyang Zhichu Hami Yizhou District 100MW/400MWh LFP and sodium-ion grid-forming independent energy storage project was officially issued, with Hami Yangyang Zhichu New Energy Co., Ltd. As the tenderer. Located in Hami, Xinjiang, the project has a total installed capacity of 100MW/400MWh on a hybrid technology route: a 90MW/360MWh LFP battery system plus a 10MW/40MWh sodium-ion battery system, built on the grid side mainly for frequency regulation and peak shaving, adopting grid-forming control technology with multi-level BMS, EMS and supporting facilities. The project is funded by CNY 440 million of self-raised funds (about CNY 1.1/Wh), with a total calendar construction period of 9 months.
The EPC turnkey scope covers engineering design, construction drawing review, equipment procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, document archiving, all power-interconnection approvals and pre-conditions, through overall grid-connection completion acceptance and delivery. Tender documents are available from 00:17 on August 31 to 00:17 on September 4, 2026, with bid submission closing at 00:09 on September 21. Consortia are allowed, with no more than 3 consortia permitted and each consortium limited to 2 members. The project follows a configuration ratio similar to the earlier Renqiu Zhihong 100MW/400MWh hybrid storage pilot in Hebei (90% LFP + 10% sodium-ion), giving sodium-ion batteries a 10% capacity share for grid-side engineering validation.
: tender does not equal award, let alone construction start or commissioning; whether the project can proceed on the 9-month schedule depends on bid opening and contract execution; CNY 1.1/Wh is a funding-based conversion, not the actual award price, which will be determined by the bid result; the announcement does not disclose the sodium-ion cell supplier or detailed technical specifications. Watch the September 21 bid opening, winning candidate pricing (especially for the sodium-ion portion), and the grid-connection timetable.
