Recently, sodium-ion battery maker Pangu New Energy and Beijing Liangkun Technology formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Under the agreement, the two parties will conduct deep collaborative R&D at the intersection of 'quantum computing + artificial intelligence + sodium-ion batteries' to advance the technical iteration and intelligent upgrading of storage-integrated solutions. The parties will build a closed-loop co-development model of 'industrial scenarios + intelligent tools': Pangu New Energy contributes real engineering scenarios and validation platforms, while Liangkun Technology provides computing engines and simulation solutions. According to the report, Pangu New Energy has built China's first flexible mass-production line for sodium-ion batteries and accumulated measured data covering materials, processes and operating conditions; Liangkun Technology holds full-stack 'Quantum x AI x HPC' capabilities.
On specific R&D directions, the collaboration will focus on five key areas: mechanism simulation and intelligent screening of cathode and anode materials; molecular-level simulation and performance prediction of electrolyte formulations; simulation analysis of cell wide-temperature, rate and cycling performance; operating-condition simulation of energy storage systems; and thermal safety optimization of storage-integrated systems. By introducing quantum computing and AI simulation, the partners aim to replace traditional trial-and-error R&D, shorten development cycles, improve prediction accuracy, and accelerate the discovery and validation of new materials and formulations. The signing was reported by china-mcc.com on September 1, republishing Hairong Network; the exact signing date, financial terms and cooperation duration were not disclosed.
: this is a strategic framework agreement - signing does not equal technology delivery, let alone commercial outcomes, and no quantified milestones for the five directions have been given; the actual computing benefits of quantum computing in battery materials simulation remain at an early validation stage, and its real impact on sodium-battery R&D efficiency cannot yet be judged; neither party disclosed the cooperation amount or investment scale. Watch for publicly verifiable simulation tools or material-screening outputs from the cooperation, and for actual shipment progress of Pangu's production lines and storage-integrated products.
