On August 31, Wanshun New Material (300057) published an investor relations activity record covering its same-day reception of 19 institutional investors. In the sodium-ion battery field, the company said that besides battery aluminum foil supplied for cathode current collectors, it has independently developed high-denier battery aluminum foil for anode current collectors: the product has been continuously supplied in small volumes to a leading battery company for new sodium-ion batteries since H2 2025, and entered mid-volume supply from the end of June 2026. The company added that as sodium-ion battery commercialization advances, the demand space for battery aluminum foil will further expand.
From a technology-route perspective, sodium-ion and lithium-ion batteries differ structurally in current collector choice: sodium does not alloy with aluminum, so both the cathode and anode current collectors of sodium-ion batteries can use aluminum foil, whereas lithium-ion battery anode current collectors mainly use copper foil - making 'aluminum replacing copper' at the anode an important cost-reduction link for sodium batteries. This disclosure means Wanshun's sodium-battery anode collector foil has advanced from sample validation to mid-volume supply for a leading cell maker. The company's 2026 semi-annual report disclosed the same day shows H1 aluminum processing revenue of CNY 3.485 billion, up 45% year-on-year; Anhui Zhongji aluminum foil sales volume of 31,000 tonnes, up 75% year-on-year, with battery aluminum foil sales growing sharply; total planned aluminum foil capacity stands at 288,000 tonnes.
: the 'leading battery company' is unnamed and the supply statements are company-disclosed figures; 'mid-volume supply' sits between validation and small-scale mass production, and the actual ramp-up pace still depends on downstream sodium battery installations; supply value and revenue share were not disclosed, so the actual contribution to the listed company's results cannot yet be quantified.
