Foreign media report: According to Lifang New Energy's official press release (published at 10:00 on August 14, 2026, reposted by Solarbe on the same day), the sodium-ion battery system products self-developed by Hunan Lifang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Successfully passed the full-process review and type tests of the China Classification Society (CCS) Wuhan Branch on August 12, and officially obtained the Marine Product Type Approval Certificate. Lifang New Energy thereby became the first sodium-ion battery company in China to obtain this qualification, successfully securing the core access qualification for inland and offshore vessel applications.
The China Classification Society (CCS) is a formal member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), responsible for the statutory survey and classification certification of ships and marine facilities and equipment in China, and is the most authoritative maritime technical certification body in the country. Marine battery type approval is a mandatory access threshold for ship installation. The certification process covers three core stages: drawing and document review, factory quality assurance system audit, and full-dimensional type tests. Products must strictly comply with the CCS Guidelines for Testing Lithium-ion Battery Packs for Ships and the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) related requirements, and complete the full set of maritime stringent tests including salt spray corrosion, high- and low-temperature capacity retention, ship-grade vibration and impact, tilt condition simulation, thermal runaway safety, and battery management system (BMS) reliability.
The certified product model J7N0700-S01 is a large-capacity sodium-ion blade battery: measured 0.5C charge/discharge efficiency of over 95.5%, cycle life exceeding 10,000 cycles, support for 1C continuous charge/discharge, fully meeting the requirements of the latest national standard GB/T 44265-2024 Sodium-ion Battery General Technical Specifications. According to the company's disclosure, the product can be widely applied to multiple fields including household and commercial energy storage systems, wind/PV supporting storage, marine power supplies, 5G communication base stations, and data center backup power. After obtaining this certificate, it will focus on connecting with inland-river sightseeing ships, fishing vessels, port operation boats, hybrid ship power systems, ship emergency backup storage and other marine scenarios.
The company did not disclose the number of signed ship orders, ship types, installed capacity, delivery timeline or commercialization revenue expectations; the certificate itself does not equate to scaled marine shipment.
