On August 4, 2026, Sanming Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau approved the environmental impact report of Fujian Sanming Runxiang New Materials Co., Ltd.'s lithium hexafluorophosphate and electronic-grade lithium/sodium fluoride construction project. The project is a renovation and expansion with total investment of 35 million yuan, located in Sanming Jikou Circular Economy Industrial Park in Sanyuan District, Sanming, Fujian Province, adding dedicated production lines for lithium/sodium fluoride and lithium hexafluorophosphate. Upon completion, it will achieve annual production capacity of 800 tonnes of electronic-grade lithium fluoride, 200 tonnes of electronic-grade sodium fluoride and 500 tonnes of lithium hexafluorophosphate, while optimizing the existing water-based high-reflectivity ink production line layout.
From a sodium-ion supply-chain perspective, sodium hexafluorophosphate is one of the core salts in sodium-ion battery electrolyte systems, and electronic-grade sodium fluoride is its key raw material. The project's sodium-ion relevance lies in the electronic-grade sodium fluoride (200 t/y) line, while lithium hexafluorophosphate and electronic-grade lithium fluoride are lithium-ion and fluorochemistry products; the project is primarily a lithium fluorochemistry renovation. According to Sanming Converged Media Center on August 2, the project has entered the stage of plant renovation and partial equipment installation. EIA approval is a statutory approval step and one of the preconditions for construction to start.
EIA approval does not equal construction start, nor production; the project is primarily lithium fluorochemistry with limited sodium-ion-related capacity.
