On July 21, CATL announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Solarpro Technology AD for 2 GWh of sodium-ion energy-storage systems. The partners plan to explore sodium-ion storage solutions adapted to local climate, grid requirements, and operating conditions across Central and Eastern Europe, with the goal of commissioning the region’s first sodium-ion storage project.
This is a cooperation and deployment plan, not a completed 2 GWh delivery. CATL also noted that the partners previously connected a 602 MWh large-scale storage project in Bulgaria. That operating project should not be counted as part of this new sodium-ion agreement unless its battery chemistry is separately disclosed.
