According to a July 20 report by Shanghai Metals Market, citing Fuping Release, Beijing Zhongcheng Xintou Energy Technology plans a project in Fuping, Baoding, Hebei, covering 300,000 tonnes of coconut-shell pre-carbonisation and 20,000 tonnes of hard-carbon anode material for sodium-ion batteries. The announced investment is RMB 2.1 billion. The disclosure describes a signed project, not a commissioned line, qualified product, or confirmed shipment.
Hard carbon is a key anode material for sodium-ion batteries. Projects at this stage still need to demonstrate stable feedstock, consistent pretreatment, carbonisation control, initial coulombic efficiency, and batch-to-batch quality. Planned scale therefore signals investment intent, but should not be treated as available supply.
