Peak Energy announced on July 8 that it planned to build a grid-scale sodium-ion storage system factory in Sacramento, California. The company put investment at up to $71 million and planned annual capacity at up to 4GWh. The site is intended for system integration and assembly rather than cell manufacturing.
Peak Energy previously reached a sodium-ion cell supply agreement with Alsym Energy. The Sacramento factory remains a plan, and the proposed 4GWh capacity has not yet entered operation.
