Conventional carbonate electrolytes suffer high low-temperature viscosity, easy high-temperature decomposition and gas generation. Novel electrolyte R&D targets wide temperature, high stability, flame retardancy and low irreversible loss with four mainstream systems. First, low-temperature composite electrolytes blend low-freezing carboxylate, ether and carbonate to retain high ionic conductivity at -40℃ with drastically reduced viscosity, solving capacity halving for northern off-grid PV in frigid winters. Second, high-voltage stable electrolytes adopt composite sodium salts (NaFSI/NaBF4) and high-voltage film-forming additives to restrain CEI decomposition at 3.8 V, matching high-voltage layered oxide cells to lift single-cell energy density. Third, fully flame-retardant electrolytes replace flammable carbonates with phosphate and fluorinated solvents plus retardants, greatly raising thermal decomposition temperature and eliminating sustained combustion under overcharge or nail penetration to boost PACK safety. Fourth, low irreversible loss electrolytes combine novel SEI formers and water/acid scavengers to cut sodium consumption during initial charging, lifting initial efficiency by 4~7% and extending cycle life. Fifth, solid/semi-solid gel electrolytes eliminate leakage and fire risks for solid-state sodium cells. Low-concentration and localized high-concentration electrolytes are cutting-edge routes balancing conductivity and cost. Major electrolyte manufacturers develop fluorine-free eco-solvents to reduce pollution and re
