The first digit of IP protection stands for PACK dust resistance. Invasion of dust, straw scraps and metal debris will wear harnesses and block busbars to raise contact resistance, with strict graded control for different scenarios. Indoor machine room UPS and data centers with clean environments adopt the minimum IP5X to block accumulation of most fine dust. Rural household energy storage, solar street lamps and plant protection machines with heavy field dust take IP54 as the basic standard. Mining, port and construction forklifts under severe high-dust working conditions require IP6X to completely isolate dust. Long-term accumulated invasive dust causes busbar oxidation and rust, BMS circuit short circuits and failure of cell insulating separators, drastically shortening PACK service life. Dust resistance is realized jointly by integrally bent shells, full-circumferential sealing strips, dust-proof waterproof connectors and independent wiring compartments. PACKs for high-dust production lines are additionally equipped with dust filter screens cooperating with air cooling systems to filter air impurities for regular maintenance and cleaning. Energy storage equipment failing to meet dust resistance grades is prohibited from mining and field outdoor scenarios.
