The cathode is the core functional component of Sodium-ion Battery, the only source of sodium ions, which directly determines the core performance parameters and use experience of the battery. After the battery production and packaging is completed, all sodium ions participating in the charge and discharge cycle are stored in the lattice of the cathode material. During the charging process, the cathode continuously deintercalates sodium ions, providing ion source for the anode energy storage; during the discharging process, the cathode continuously adsorbs the sodium ions flowing back from the anode to complete charge recovery. The crystal structure, chemical stability and ion conduction rate of the cathode material directly determine the nominal voltage, rated capacity, charge and discharge rate, cycle life, high and low temperature performance and safety of the battery, which is the core breakthrough point for the technological iteration and performance upgrading of sodium batteries, and also the key basis for distinguishing different sodium battery technology systems.
