Is Sodium-ion Battery a solid-state battery?
At present, all large-scale commercial Sodium-ion Batteries are liquid electrolyte batteries, not solid-state batteries. The current mass-produced sodium batteries adopt the traditional structure of liquid electrolyte + microporous separator, with mature technology, low cost, stable performance, and suitable for large-scale industrialization. Solid-state Sodium-ion Battery is the next generation of cutting-edge technology, which uses solid electrolyte to replace the traditional liquid electrolyte, completely solving the safety hazards such as leakage, thermal runaway and short circuit, and has higher energy density and safety. At present, solid-state sodium battery is still in the stage of laboratory research and development and pilot iteration, the technology is not yet fully mature, the production cost is extremely high, and it has not yet achieved large-scale mass production and commercial use, which is the core direction of future sodium battery technology upgrading.
