What is the intercalation and deintercalation reversibility of Sodium-ion Battery?
Intercalation and deintercalation reversibility is the core underlying principle that enables Sodium-ion Battery to be recycled for a long time, and also a key technical indicator to measure the quality of the battery. It refers to that during the charge and discharge cycle of the battery, sodium ions can be repeatedly, stably and non-destructively intercalated into and deintercalated from the lattice of the cathode and anode materials, and the crystal structure and pore structure of the electrode materials can be basically restored to the initial state after each cycle without permanent collapse, deformation, pulverization and failure. Batteries with excellent intercalation and deintercalation reversibility have few side reactions during charge and discharge, slow capacity attenuation and many cycle times; if the reversibility is poor, the electrode structure will be continuously damaged after multiple cycles, the battery capacity will drop rapidly, and the service life will be greatly shortened. Commercial mature sodium batteries have extremely strong intercalation and deintercalation reversibility, which can support thousands of stable cycles.
